President’s update

Christian education is more important than ever. We are living at a time when it is needed and vital for our children’s welfare and training than even a generation ago. Such an education goes beyond the need for updated computers and new science lab equipment and faster technology. We have a town here in Greater Boston which just a few years ago founded a new high school which costs tens and tens of millions of dollars. Did it usher in a new era of education? No, in fact, age old problems continue to proliferate and caused a work stoppage by frustrated teachers and kept students out of the classrooms for many days.

Christian education is not perfect but its primary objective to the students is the development of a character after the similitude of Jesus. It is dedicated to educating the students to a life of joyful service here in this world and a higher joy of wider service in the world to come.

This past Christmas one of my presents under the tree was a book titled “Thriving” which is comprised of 31 biographical vignettes of successful adults who attribute their accomplishments to the quality of education they received, primarily on the elementary and secondary level, from Christian schools. The number one influence was the inspiration of dedicated teachers who prompted them, through example and words, to lifetime goals and achievements.
